April is the Month of Military Child and to kick it off, Child and Youth Programs is hosting a Purple Up Fun Run on Saturday, April 5th at 10 AM.
This event will consist of a “fun run” of various lengths catering to any skill level. Participants are encouraged to bring any friends and family to participate with wagons and strollers. The event will be kicked off with a speech from leadership, SAC will sing the national anthem, ROTC will present colors, and fitness will implement Zumba as a group warm up. Participants will then be gathered into groups based on the course length that was selected in their registration. Groups who have selected the longer routes will be released first. Throughout the course, there will be exercise stations that families will be encouraged to participate in, in honor of “overcoming hurdles” as a military child.
Attending the Month of the Military Child Fun Run event is an important way to show support and appreciation for the unique challenges that military children face. These children often experience frequent relocations, long periods of separation from parents, and other difficulties that come with a military lifestyle. By participating in the fun run, individuals can help raise awareness about the resilience and strength of military families, while also fostering a sense of community and solidarity. Itโs an opportunity to celebrate the sacrifices and contributions of military children, encourage physical activity, and create lasting memories for families, all while giving back to those who serve our country.
