Have you visited the Barrel Room at the Wright-Patt Club and seen their extensive bourbon, scotch, and whiskey collection? The cozy bar room located just off Wing’s Bar & Grille has a wide collection and holds monthly tastings.
In March, you can taste any four whiskeys of your choice on Friday the 29.
But how do you taste your drink of choice? A few tips:
– start off with low alcohol content
– add a few drops of water to open up the liquor
– help your palate by have a snack between tastings
When you take your first sip, hold it in your mouth for a few extra seconds before swallowing and then exhale through your mouth only immediately afterwards. Now take a second sip and think about what flavors you’re tasting. Cinnamon? Butterscotch? Rye? Is it “hot” or smooth? Butterflies don’t have to dance across your tongue, but paying attention to the different flavor profiles will you help you identify which types you like, and which you don’t.
